At Falbygdens Osteria – the cheese paradise in Falköping, cheese lovers come from near and far to taste, shop, and experience the magic of cheese! Here, you’ll find what is likely Sweden’s widest selection of cheeses and other delicacies. Along the 25-meter-long cheese counter, there are over 300 (!) different types of cheese.
You can book delightful cheese tastings, and the delicious cheese buffet is served seven days a week. One of our most beloved traditions is our Christmas market, which opens every year on October 10 at 10:00 AM and runs all the way through to Christmas!
With us, you’ll discover flavors worth going out of your way for. This is a place by cheese lovers, for cheese lovers.

Restaurant
At our cheese and delicacy buffet, you’ll find a selection of Falbygdens finest cheeses alongside other cheeses from near and far. You’ll also discover quiches, cured meats, a variety of pickles, assorted delicacies, and fresh salads.
For those looking for a fika break, we also offer homemade cakes, pastries, and a range of delicious sandwiches.

Cheese and gourmet shop
In our cheese and delicacy shop in Falköping, you’ll find more than 300 types of cheese. Our aged specialties rub shoulders with imported gourmet cheeses and cheeses from small local producers.
Alongside the cheese, we offer a wide selection of other delicacies: crackers, jams, cured meats, pickles, oils, teas… there’s plenty to choose from! We also carry a large range of carefully selected products, perfect for cooking, table settings, and culinary inspiration.
We place great emphasis on locally produced food and feature a constantly growing range from small local artisans. With 275,000 visitors every year, Osterian is an excellent marketplace for local food producers to showcase and sell their products.

Our Historic Cheese Cellar
One floor down, beneath our cheese shop, lies our historic cheese cellar. It’s a treasure trove of flavors and history, and since its construction in the mid-1950s, its cool stone walls have preserved and aged some of our most unique cheeses for decades.
Here, we still age delicacies such as Gourmetost, Falbygdens Blue, and Osterian Strong Cheese—a cheese that can still mature for up to three years before it’s considered ready to enjoy. These are cheeses allowed to develop at their own pace, creating deep, full-bodied flavors.
In the soft glow of candlelight, you might spot yellowed newspaper clippings on the walls—memories and stories from the past, a testament to a long tradition of craftsmanship and innovation. It was here, surrounded by the gentle scent of aged cheeses and old wood, that Grandfather Folke once experimented with the world’s first flavored cheese.

Farmstead Dairy
In Påverås, in the heart of Falbygden, lies our farmstead dairy. It’s a small, authentic dairy with a big soul. Here, our Påverås cheeses are crafted, and amidst vats and cultures, both award-winning soft- and blue-mold cheeses as well as washed-rind cheeses develop the unique character they are so admired for!
The daily work at the dairy is still led by Elisabeth Andersson, the cheesemaker who built Påverås Farmstead Dairy from the ground up. By her side are now two aspiring cheesemakers from Falbygdens Osteria, learning the craft step by step directly from Elisabeth. All knowledge and techniques are passed on to preserve and further develop this cherished tradition.
Following the journey of cheese, from milk to finished delicacy, is a process that requires both time and intuition. At Påverås Dairy, this tradition lives on, and we are proud to be a part of it!

The Christmas Market
Every year on October 10 at 10:00 AM, Christmas begins at Falbygdens Osteria. This beloved and eagerly awaited tradition brings a wonderful festive atmosphere to the shop, with a delicious cheese buffet and great seasonal offers.
When we open the doors, there’s a flutter of excitement in the air, and mulled wine and gingerbread cookies are served to the morning’s first Christmas market visitors. In our newly built Christmas room, we’ve created a space filled with holiday spirit and inspiration, from floor to ceiling.
The Christmas market is open every day until December 23.
